Academic competitions are building blocks that can transform students' potential into success. Preparing and participating in academic competitions make students to: work harder; study further; hone their soft skills; boost thier confidence; and learn from failure. Academic competitions also prepare students for the real world where 'competion' fuels innovation and production of revolutionary/cutting edge products.

Progressively, drawing on emerging evidence from the annual competitions, both the national and regional competitions will be improved to enhance their responsiveness to the context, needs and aspirations of the two countries (and by extension East African region) in as far as fostering financial and economic literacy amongst the youth is concerned.
Our mission is to foster financial and economic literacy amongst middle school (lower secondary) and high school students.
To cultivate responsible financial habits/behaviours and entrepreneurial awareness amongst middle and high school students from the two countries through evidence informed interventions (not limited to economic Olympiads) that aim to foster financial knowledge sharing and critical thinking skills related to financial decision-making.
To discover, nurture, challenge and train young people who are exceptionally talented in Economics and Business.
Foster self-learning and leadership skills, adaptive motivational dispositions such as resilience amongst middle and high school students from the two countries in solving challenging finance, business and economics 'problems' ,
Promote collaboration between the corporate sector, secondary schools and institutions of higher learning in fostering financial and economic literacy amongst students from Rwanda and Kenya.
Encourage friendly relationships, regional integration, and spirit of competition between participating learners (and teachers) from Rwanda and Kenya.
To create an opportunity for collaborative research, exchange on curriculum and teaching practices of finance, economics and business in the Rwanda and Kenya.
To select and prepare teams of students from the two countries to participate in the international economics Olympiads
Test contestants' understanding of basic economic concepts and models, their curiosity about the field and analytical skills.
Team presentation of a business case testing: analytical thinking; conceptual thinking; quantitative thinking; and communication skills.

Founder and Technical Lead of EduHubAfric
Self Christened as AfricasOwnEducationDoctor and Education Evangelist, Dr. Herine Otieno is the founder and Technical Lead of EduHubAfric. She brings to the Economic Olympiad decades of experience in running student academic competitions and extensive knowledge from her PhD research which partly focused on exploring opportunities for improving student motivation for, effort and interest in learning through academic competitions. Between 2018-2022, Herine pioneered a number of academic competitions in Rwanda including playing a key role in getting Rwanda into the mathematics Olympiad space at the continental and international level. As a Pan African Educationist and Researcher, Herine also brings to the competition a wealth of knowledge (and rich network) that will be instrumental in catalysing collaborations between the Economic Olympiads with Ministries of Education, schools, donor organisations, parents and corporate sector from the two countries-and wider East Africa Region.
Managing Director of National Bank of Kenya
As the inaugural patron Mr. George Odhiambo will be the lead corporate champion of EduHubAfric Rwanda -Kenya Economics Olympiads competition within the corporate and business community of the two countries. Mr. Odhiambo is currently the Managing Director of National Bank of Kenya. He has decades of experience of working in the banking sector in Rwanda and Kenya -and the wider East African Region.
This is a voluntary role drawing on Finance, Economics and Business professional from the corporate and academia in the two countries.
Executive Director at the African Policy Research Institute(APRI)
She holds a doctorate degree in economics (D.Litt. et Phil. Economics) from the University of South Africa, a master's degree in economics from the University of Nairobi and bachelor's degree in economics from Kenyatta University in Kenya. Miriam has experience in both macro and micro econometric modeling using large survey data sets. She has over 20 years of experience in international trade and development, poverty and gender issues as well public finance management. She consults for the World Bank Group on public finance management and poverty issues. Dr. Miriam W. Oiro Omolo is passionate about sharing her knowledge and experience in order to equip future generations with the right knowledge and skills for building the nation of Kenya. She is an Adjunct Lecturer at Strathmore University's Business School where she lectures on managing decentralized funds and international trade and finance. She supervises both doctorate and masters' students in the same subject areas.

Beatrice has more than 20 years of experience in international business and trade, entrepreneurship and innovation, sustainability initiatives, market entry, business development and global value chains across Asia Pacific, Europe, Africa and Middle East regions.
Health Economist Consultant
Angela Oloo Akumu holds a M. Arts in Economics from KU and is currently pursuing her PhD in Economics at University of Nairobi-Kenya. Angela is a currently a PhD candidate at the School of Economics, University of Nairobi. As a Health Economist, Angela has participated in consultancy assignments by a number of institutions including World Bank, KEMRI/Welcome Trust Programme, UNITID and KIPPRA.

MUHAYIMANA Victoire, is a PhD holder in Entrepreneurship from University of Rwanda and a master's degree in business administration project management option (MBA/PM) from Mount Kenya University (MKU). She is currently a lecturer at INES-Ruhengeri in the department of Enterprises Management, teaching production and operations management, Management of an organization, entrepreneurship management and development.

Malgit Amos Akim holds a doctorate degree in Finance and Masters of science degree in Accounting from Kenyatta University -Kenya. A member of Nigerian Institute of Management Dr. Malgit is currently a lecturer at Mount Kigali University Rwanda where he teachers and supervises both undergraduate and postgraduate students. He brings to the advisory team extensive knowledge in teaching and mentoring the youth beyod the field of finance and business management.
Commissioner AMUPAMOC and Deputy Principal, Othaya Boys High School-Kenya
A high school mathematics educator with over 30 years experience locally and internationally, Charles is currently the Deputy Principal at Othaya Boys High school-Kenya. Charles brings to the technical advisory team expertise in running similar competitions honed through running of similar mathematics competitions over the last 20 years. He is part of the committee that includes the University of Waterloo- Canada, University of Nairobi and CEMASTEA (Centre for Mathematics, Science and Technology Education in Africa) that organizes the Mathematics Olympiad competitions in Kenya. In addition, Charles is a commissioner representing Kenya in the African Mathematics Union – Pan African Mathematics Olympiad commission (AMUPAMOC). The afore-mentioned attributes together with his experience as a Kenyan team leader in the Pan-African Mathematics Olympiad (PAMO) and International Mathematics Olympiad several times will be invaluable in successful shaping of the National Economic Olympiads (in the two countries) and preparing students for the regional and international Economic Olympiad.
These is a voluntary role for professionals who are willing to leverage on their technical expertise, work experience and professional network to champion and promote EduHubAfric interventions aimed at fostering financial and economic literacy amongst middle and high school students in Kenya and Rwanda.

Batya Blankers is the Co-founder and CEO of CHANCEN International. Batya is South African and was given access to university in Germany through participation in an Income Share Agreement. As a beneficiary herself, Batya is passionate about offering an ethical and fair financial aid model to fellow Africans to ensure more individuals have equal opportunities in accessing education on the continent and a role in building strong and peaceful economies.
Audit, Risk and Finance Executive
Annet is an Audit, Risk and Finance executive with over 15 years progressive experience from international organizations. Annet has worked in various capacities and acquired a deep technical understanding of the financial services sector and particularly banking and insurance. She has regional work exposure in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, South Sudan, and Malawi. Annet has undertaken a number of leadership programs at Strathmore Business School in partnership with Gordon Business School, South Africa and Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. She is passionate about mentorship and women leadership.
Team of volunteers made up of finance, economics and business high school teachers, graduate and undergraduate students and university lecturers who are willing to contribute to the running of the national economic Olympiads and preparation of national teams for the international economic Olympiads. As volunteers the final team of trainers will earn a stipend drawn from the participation fee charged to the participants in the first round.
